Botox® Cosmetic is a safe, non-surgical, physician-administered purified protein that temporarily improves the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between your brows, forehead creases and “crow’s feet”.
Botox® Cosmetic is FDA approved and has been found to be a popular treatment in the United States for reversing the visible signs of aging.
The recovery time is minimal and within days, you may see a noticeable improvement. The results will gradually fade over four months and the muscle action will return. A simple treatment is all that is necessary to maintain the desired results.
In the Botox injection method, a very fine needle is used to inject a specific amount of the drug directly into the muscles. The process takes about 10 minutes and the discomfort is minimal and transient. Patients can immediately resume their daily activities, with the recommendation to avoid contact with the injected area for up to 4 hours. In the case of Juvederm®, this product is used for injection into the middle and deep layers of the skin to improve moderate to severe wrinkles and lines. The treatment lasts about 15 minutes and during the first 24 hours afterwards, it is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol consumption and sun exposure to minimize side effects such as redness, itching or temporary swelling.
Some patients may experience temporary reactions at the injection site, ranging from mild to moderate symptoms such as redness, pain, swelling, stiffness, tenderness, or slight bruising. These side effects usually resolve within 7 days. In rare cases, side effects such as temporary muscle weakness, drooping eyelids, nausea, or asymmetry in facial expressions may also occur. Although very unlikely, there is also the possibility of damage to nerves or blood vessels, leading to sensory changes or skin damage.
